About Kaia Stern is ordained as an interfaith minister by the New Seminary in New York. She received her master’s in Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School and her doctorate in Religion from Emory University in Atlanta. She directs the Prison Studies Project, teaches at Harvard Divinity School, Harvard University and inside two Massachusetts prisons.

What is Kairos?

Kairos is about being awake to the power of the present. Kairos (καιρός) is one of two Greek terms often used to mean “time” (the other is chronos, which signals linear or sequential time). I understand kairos to be a kind of “now moment,” a time of supreme importance that changes one's life forever.
